Health Care Manager

Health Care Manager

Health care managers combines health care and business concepts. Professionals in the field need to understand the treatment of disease and health maintenance as well as how to run a successful business.

Many organizations providing health care (networks of hospitals, for example) are huge companies – health care administration students will learn about finance, corporate structure, health care law, personnel management, and many other business concepts. But these health care companies and groups are different from regular companies in that they are providing healthcare; students also take classes in epidemiology, disease prevention, patient communications, and other health care-related courses.

Most schools offer this program at the graduate or doctoral level only. Upon graduation the student may look for work in entry-level management in hospitals, managed care facilities, clinics, health insurance companies, and public and government agencies.
